All About Invisalign

Invisalign are sets of clear acrylic aligners that fit over your teeth and are designed to straighten your smile. They're removable, making it easier to eat, drink, brush and floss. Dr. Rhoads uses Invisalign to help you see fantastic-looking, straighter teeth.

We will take photos and X-rays to create a 3D image of your mouth. We make your first set of custom-fitted aligners from these images, and then you begin the process of straightening your teeth.

How long you wear Invisalign aligners depends on the severity of your bite, but most of our patients wear them for 12-18 months.

You wear the trays for about 22 hours a day but can remove them for brushing your teeth and eating. Based on your individual needs, you will wear several sets of trays throughout your orthodontic treatment, and you'll start to notice a change in just a few months.

Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign has changed the way we think about straightening smiles, and you get to reap the rewards.

With plastic aligners that are comfortable, invisible and removable, it’s no wonder the popularity of this alternative treatment option grows every year.

Are you wondering how Invisalign could benefit you? Let’s take a look at all it has to offer.

Flexibility

One of the hardest things to get used to with traditional braces is the food restrictions. Your social life probably revolves around food, so it can be really difficult to have to say no to so many common treats like popcorn, nuts, apples, candy, and chips.

Because you remove Invisalign aligners before meals, you’ll still be able to eat just about everything you normally would. Just remember to be vigilant about brushing and flossing afterward.

You’ll never have to sacrifice your favorite dish for a straighter smile with Invisalign treatment.

With Invisalign aligners, there is no risk of a broken bracket or pokey wire causing discomfort. As a result, this is an ideal treatment option for patients who live farther away, college students, or those who love to travel often.

Effectiveness

If you wear your Invisalign aligners for the recommended 20-22 hours daily, treatment with this system can be just as effective as traditional metal braces.

Invisalign can treat most mild to moderate cases of underbite, overbite, overcrowding, and gaps between teeth—all very common dental issues.

At Rhoads Orthodontic Specialist, we offer a free initial consultation to prospective patients. Dr. Rhoads can let you know if you are a good fit for this treatment before you invest in it.

Brushing Is a Breeze

It’s always important to have a good dental hygiene routine, but metal braces can make brushing and flossing a little tricky. You remove your Invisalign aligners before you brush your teeth.

Taking care of your teeth and gums is as easy as ever.

Cleaning the aligners themselves is simple, too. There are cleaning kits specifically for this job. Or, you can just brush and rinse them with warm water instead.

Comfort

Your Invisalign aligners are made of a lightweight plastic that is custom-fitted to your teeth. They are comfortable even when you wear them the recommended 20-22 hours a day.

And, unlike metal braces, there aren’t any wires or uncomfortable metal brackets that can irritate your mouth, gums, or cheeks.

Style

The invisibility Invisalign offers is the most popular feature for our teens and adults alike. This makes the treatment very inconspicuous, which can be a big benefit if you are feeling self-conscious about straightening your smile.

Another huge plus is that aligners can be removed for short periods of time for things like weddings, senior pictures, prom, and any other special event where you’d rather show off your natural smile.
