Choosing the right orthodontist is a big step. Whoever you go in to see and decide to trust your or your family’s corrective tooth and jaw care, that’s a person who you’ll be seeing for anywhere from a few months to several years of your life, and you want to go in informed.
That’s a fantastic attitude! At Rhoads Orthodontics, we believe that the better informed our patients are, the better their experiences will be going forward. We’re happy to sit down with you to discuss any questions you may have.
But what if you’re not even certain what questions to ask? After all, orthodontics is a complicated field, and maybe you aren’t sure where to start.
We asked Dr. Rhoads to let us know about a few of the questions to ask when choosing an orthodontist. Let’s get into it below!
What is your experience? Are you a specialist?
This is a great one to ask. Your orthodontic treatment is a serious investment, and you deserve to know that you’re seeing a professional who has dedicated their career to fulfilling your needs.
While all orthodontists have a degree in and are familiar with dentistry, becoming certified with the American Association of Orthodontists like Dr. Rhoads requires several more years of highly specialized training targeting the alignment of the teeth and jaws.
Not only is Dr. Rhoads a graduate of the North Carolina School of Dentistry with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study and a Masters of Science in Dentistry, but she is an active participant in the scholarship of orthodontia, regularly publishing the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Are you up-to-date on the latest practices and technology?
This is a big one. The practice of orthodontics has taken massive strides in recent years! Chances are, if you’re looking into your child’s orthodontic care and remember having your own set of braces back in high school, you remember cold, droopy impressions and a mouth full of uncomfortable metal!
These days, provided your specialist is current with the latest techniques and employs the newest technology like Dr. Rhoads, those cold impressions are a thing of the past, and you or your child’s braces will be lightweight, unobtrusive, and durable!
We here at Rhoads Orthodontics are proud to employ iTerro 3D scanning technology, which quickly and unobtrusively takes deeply detailed images of your teeth and jaws.
For metal, ceramic, and lingual brackets, the In-Ovation® system utilizes the most advanced lightweight materials and eliminates the need for messy wires and ties!
And if you’re interested in Invisalign, you’ll be happy to know that we 3D print your trays right here in the office so that you can get started on your treatment fast!
Are you involved with your community?
I don’t know about you, but when it’s time to someone about my health, I want to know that they’re not only at the top of their field but that they take a personal investment in the care of their patients.
Nothing demonstrates this more than to see that my orthodontic specialist is a member of the community where she practices! Dr. Rhoads loves living in Mars and serving the greater Butler County area, in and out of the office! She loves participating in Cranberry Community Days, the Mars Applefest, and YMCA events like Healthy Kids Day and Trunk or Treat!
She’s raising her kids here just like you. And just like you, we here at Rhoads Orthodontics know that any professional success should be based on an attitude of service and relationship.
How much are your consultations?
While this may vary from specialist to specialist, you should expect the doctor you see to be invested in your care and well-being. A great way to demonstrate that is by providing your initial consultation free of charge like you’ll find at Rhoads Orthodontics.
Are you ready to start smiling?
Nothing is more important than ensuring that you trust your and your family’s health to a competent, highly-trained expert who’ll see you as a person and not just a case study. That’s why you took the time to read up on the vital background information you’ll want answered when you come in to make that first appointment.
If you’re in or around Cranberry Township, Mars, or the greater Butler County area at large, there’s just no better landing than Rhoads Orthodontics. So come in today, and ask us these questions and any others you might have! We’re looking forward to it!
